Periphony converts ordinary stereo tracks into true binaural “8D” audio using real measured Head-Related Impulse Responses from the MIT KEMAR mannequin head. This is not a widening effect or a phase trick, but the actual acoustic filtering a human head and ears apply to sound arriving from a given direction.
The orbit is locked to the track's own tempo, so the movement lands with the music rather than drifting against it. Played on headphones, the result is heard as sound circling the listener.
It ships as a self-contained app bundle with Python, its dependencies and a static ffmpeg inside, so there is no Homebrew step and no terminal.
What it does
- Real measured HRIRs from the MIT KEMAR dataset
- Orbit locked to the track's detected tempo
- Adjustable beats-per-revolution and direction
- Batch conversion with a queue and progress
- Self-contained .app: no Homebrew, no terminal
